Sadia loked down at the book in her hand, and then up at the shelf where it was suppose to go and groaned. It was her first day, and already she was wanting to go home and clean something, or just curl up on her couch with a good book and forget about the fact that she was short. Placing the book at the bottom of the stack in her arms, Sadia moved on to others that she knew she would be able to reach.
The books that required the second to the top shelf weren't so bad, she just had to go up on her tippy-toes to get them on there and even then it was kinda iffy. Her red-gold hair was pulled back into a messy bun, not a very good one at that, and random ringlets kept escaping. Normally she would have pull it down and redone it until it was perfect but she jsut wasn't in the mood to correct things anymore.
The day so far had been dreary, hardly any customers, and even if there had been she didn't deal with them much. She moved quickly and effectivly, shelfing the books into their proper places and even moving some that she noticed were out of place. Finally she was back where she started, stareing up at the top shelf, wondering how she was going to get the book in her hand up there.

Nando kimi ni, ketsu mazuitemo modottekichau, aijou ni I hurt myself because of you, over and over; but my love didn't go away--it kept coming back.
Ashton didn't have work today, thank goodness. He was still sore from two nights ago and his few little mishaps. A large bruise lingered on his neck where he had been hit and there was a bump on his head that he had descovered last night, either from hitting the door frame or falling off the couch - he wasn't exactly sure which one it might be. Unfortunately, too tired to do much other than lie at home and read, he had come to the bookstore to find some books after running out of reading material at his own home. He trudged into the store, completely uninterested in being here where he wasn't sleeping. Exhaustion still threatened to seize him every once in a while and he felt tired after the short drive from his apartment. This is stupid, he thought to himself. He shouldn't be this tired after a good night of sleep, which had been granted to him last night.
He walked through the isles, merely glancing here and there as he passed by, seeing nothing of interest. He stopped once to look at something that might be good, but it turned out to be stupid and he continued on. On the last isle that he decided to take a look at he found someone who must work at the bookstore. She was looking at the top shelf, book in hand, and it didn't appear that she could reach it. He wasn't quite sure what he was doing, but he walked over to her anyways. Do you want help? he asked her queitly. He was always quiet in the bookstore. I work here too - but I'm off today.

Sadia turned quickly, gasping quietly and nearly dropping the book in her hands. Just barely she managed to hold onto it. As she tried to calm her frantically beating heart, she didn't like being snuck up on, even though she was sure he hadn't meant to sneak up on her, she studied the boy in front of her. He was tall, granted taller then her but who wasn't, but even for a male he was taller then average. He was kinda cute, but Sadia really wasn't interested in dating anyone at the moment, though that didn't mean she couldn't think it. Her big gray eyes widened as what he said finally sunk into her brain.
"Oh. Yeah, actually that would be great." She replied, taking after him in the fact that her voice was low. Maybe it was just her and that fact that she spoke softly out of habit, or maybe it was the fact that she almost felt like when you entered a bookstore or library you were expected to be quiet, almost reverent. "You do? Then I hope it isn't painfully obvious that I new here. First day and all. So far it's been going great, I just wish that I wasn't so short."

"Sorry about that," he said, realizing that he might of startled her by sneaking up on her. With a smile he offered to take the book from her with one hand. So she was new here. He hadn't been working here very long either, but he had some experience with the job anyways, so he was alright with the work. "I only started working here a week ago," he offered in consolation for her being new. "It's not such a bad job, once you get used to cleaning up after peope, I suppose." And by people he didn't just mean the workers. How many times had it not been his job to organize the storeroom but he had been stuck doing it anyways? Enough that he was to the point of groaning everytime he knew that he had to go to work, expecting to have extra to do each time. But that was usually the story of his life, so he was used to it. He had spent a lot of time back home cleaning up after his brother.

Sadia returned the smile and gently placed the book into his open hand. As he spoke on of her pale and small hands reached up and grabbed one of her loose curls. It was a nervous habit she had. It wasn't that she was shy around people, ok so maybe she was a little, but it was more that she was almost embarrassed by that fact that she needed help at her own job.
"I actually love doing stuff like this. I've been cleaning up after my parents for my whole life so this is really nothing different. It just combines my two loves, books and organizing things." Almost immidiently she shut her mouth and smiled again, being the smilely person that she was. However her cheeks took a rosy tinge to them as she blushed a little. She had almost spilled her OCDness to someone that she didn't even know. It wasn't a fact that most people knew about and once went she had mentioned it off-handily to her first boy friend, he had freaked out on her, as if it would be infectious, they were in the fifth grade, and that had been the end of that. People, when they knew, just tended to treat her a little differently, as if she were crazy everytime she straightened a piece of paper or cleaned something that had already been cleaned.

I was always forced to clean up after my brother, he said as he reached up as high as he could and slipped the book into it's rightful place on the tall shelf. And I like to keep my things in a certain order. Usually my books are arranged alphabetically. Just a habit, really, I think. He lowered his hand and shut his mouth, realizing that he was talking a little bit more than he usually would to a stranger he had randomly come across at the bookstore. He tried to turn his neck to look at something on another shelf, but winced when he felt pain course through his neck. He reached a hand subconsciously and touched the bruise that had appeared there two nights ago. Even with medication it still hurt more than he could have believed possible. The cut that had been there was a long scratch now that still bled at times, though it wasn't bleeding now. He sighed.
I came to look for something interesting to read, he mentioned casually as he bagan to scan the shelves, turning his whole body rather than just his head. Since I've read everything I have at home and I am stuck resting for another day, I thought I would buy something new. I just can't seem to find anything. He picked up another book that he thought might be interesting, but placed it back when he had read the summary, sighing with frustration.[/blockquote]

The smile on Sadia's face started to grow a little wider. So, he was a little anal too. But frankly she wasn't going to tell him that her cd's were arranged by artist and then alphabetically, and her books by author and then by title. She opened her mouth to say something but thought better of it as she noticed him wince. Compassionate by nature Sadia's eyes stared up at him sympathetically. "How about you go sit down, rest for a little bit while I go look for a book for you. What are you interested in? Sci-fi? Fantasy? Bibliographies?"
As she spoke she placed her hand lightly at him elbow, using that grip to try to steer him away from the books. Hopefully he wouldn't resist because she knew she wouldn't be able to drag him anywhere. As if she knew he was going to say something in protest, she looked up at him again and smiled brightly. "Please? It's the least I can do after you helped me and besides, I need something to do besides reorganizing books. If you don't let me do it then I might just have to start from the beginning and make sure nothing is out of place." She winked, hopeing that he would get the hint that she was just joking with him.

Ashton shook his head in protest but let her lead him away from the books. In the back of his mind he was grumbling in his thoughts, complaining of having too much help with everything lately. First Jamie and now whoever-this-person-was-called. It was actually getting slightly annoying. He could take care of himself. I like mystery, he offered, though, in reality, he really liked almost anything, even love stories if they were good. He had an extensive library back at his apartment, and he was always adding to it. Each shelf he had seemed to be covered with books. I really don't need help, he complained. That's it. I'm never getting another inury again. If I do I'll make sure I do it when no one is watching and then I'll lock myself in a room until I heal. That should keep everyone from helping me. But he wasn't frowning. A light smile played across his face when he heard her little joke.

Sadia was too deep in her thoughts to even think of the fact that he might be a little uncomfortable. She had had enough male friends to know that most of them didn't traditionally accept help when it was offered, something about an ego thing. "Mystery it is then." As she released his arm and turned to go search the shelves she heard his last comment and it made her urn and smile.
"I know but I'm a girl, a bored girl at that so just humor me. Besides, I'm sure you're absolutly fine besides a little headache right?" She just smiled at him again, turned and dartted over to a shelf. Mystery, mystery, she thought to herself. Her finger in front of her and biting her lip in concentration Sadia searched the shelf in front of her for something that he might be interested in. Halfway down she laughed to herself, suddenly self concious of the fact that she had successfully 'ordered' some guy around and she didn't even know his name, and better yet, he didn't know hers. But it wasn't like that was her fault, she was wearing her name tag, half of which just happened to be hidden by a long strang of loose hair so her name was shortened to dia. Shrugging it off she plucked a book of the shelf then moved one until she had two others. She wasn't exactly sure what kind of mystery he would liked so she decided to bring him a little variety. "Anything here that might be interesting to you?" She asked upon her arrival back, showing him the books she had chosen.

He shook his head as he leaned against another shelf of books - of course the bookstore was full of those - watching as she searched the shelves. He was growing pathetic when it came to things like this. He was too nice for his own good, even if he had saved someone else's life because of it. His eyes darted to the shelf beside him, even though she was looking for something that he could read already, and began to search over the books with swift, passing glances. There were plenty of different books here to read, but he always seemed to have trouble finding something that wouldn't turn out boring to him. He looked at one of the books he noticed, but put it back after a few short seconds of glancing over the summary. It seemed that he would never actually find anything interesting.
She came back with a selection of three books from the area that she had searched in. He took a couple of seconds to look each one over. Ignoring the first two that he looked at, he stopped on the last one. This one looks interesting, he noted. Interesting enough to buy, I think. He made to take it from her, figuring that she would like to put the other two back where she had found them. He hadn't noticed her name tag yet. He was usually too preoccupied with other activities to notice things like name tags.

Sadia smiled and bounced on the backs of her black flip-flops, something that she wore rain or shine even in the winter when it was freezing but she knew better then to wear them when it was snowing outside, resisting the urge to clap her hands for joy. She was just like a child sometimes, more often the would be expect for a girl of her age, especially one that would be heading off to college come fall. And fall was approching faster then she had expected it to. She handed him the book and nodded. "That's great. I guess I've found something I'm good at then, besides organizing everything in sight. Annoying strangers and finding books for those annoyed strangers to read."
She laughed softly and folded her arms in front of her, now holding the books school girl style. She really had nothing else to say or do at the moment. She had provided him with a book that he said might prove interesting, and now she was left with the other selections. "Well thatnks for the help..." She broke off, silently wondering to herself if he would get the hint and provide his name. He looked like an intelligent person and she didn't doubt that he would get it.

I'm not that annoyed, he said with a smile. At least, it isn't your fault I'm annoyed, he ammended what he had said before. He was very annoyed, but not with her, just with the way things had been lately. He was flipping through the book he had chosen, looking to make sure that it really would be interesting and hardly paying any attention to her now. He closed it as he finished flipping through the pages, noting that they were small print and full. Great for a long, good read when you had nothing better to do with your life. He stopped leaning against the shelf as he had been and turned to the girl who had helped him just as she was thanking him. The end of her sentence caught his attnetion and he promptly said his name, glancing at her nametag as he did. Ashton, he said offering his hand for her to shake if she wanted. And you are Sadia, he said, after catching a glance of the name on the name tag.

Sadia grinned and shook his hand. “Well it was a pleasure talking with you Ashton. I’m sure you want to get home and start reading your book cause I know I would.” Giving him a little curtsy and a wink, just for the fun of it she turned around but stopped for a moment. With an apologetic smile on her face Sadia spun back around. “I know it’s not my place but you might want to take some pain reliever when you get home. I’m sure you already have but a little more never hurt anyone.” She brushed her bangs out of her gray eyes and shrugged her slender shoulders. “Until some other time right Ashton?” She didn’t wait for an answer, just gave him a little finger wave, turned on her heel and went to put the two books in her arms back on the shelf like she was suppose to.
