Kal's eyes fluttered opened, greeted by the morning light flooded over his silent apartment. He lay there for a moment, smileing to himself. He absolutely adored mornings. The way the birds sang, how brilliant the grass looked smothered in the early dew, the way everything seemed so.. reborn. It was the perfect, most amazing part of the day.
But this morning it was much too quiet.
Kal skipped his usual yawn-and-stretch routine, and climbed out of the cheap springy mattress to peer inquisitively outside his window. He could see storm clouds in the distance. It seemed strange to him, knowing how bright it had been yesterday. Kal shrugged. He was the one who had forgotten to check the weather channel, afterall.
Slowly he wandered into the bathroom, splashing his face with refreshingly cool water. He brushed his teeth and his hair, taking his time, turning around so that he didn't have to hate the face in the mirror. When he was done he flicked off the light and dragged himself to his livingroom, not bothering to change out of his only adornment of boxers.
He stretched out on the sofa, smiling, and picked up the remote to turn on the T.V. Clicking through the channels, he finally came to the one he was looking for. The classic news guy, fake grin 'n all, was chattering about the local happenings.
Kalel waited a few minutes, not paying attention until the man's voice uttered, "And now, we go to Mark Colwel, with the weather! How's it going, Mark?"
The screen switched to a man standing before a map of the local area. "Pretty rainy, that's for sure. Within the next two days there is going to be a pretty bad storm occuring! Be careful, it will bring hail and some dangerous conditions..."
Kal turned the T.V. off. He was pleased to have some exitement again, though he didn't paticualarly enjoy storms. He walked to the kitchen, grabbing a slice of cold pizza that had been there for a few days. He finished it within seconds and without sitting down, then gulped down a glass of cold milk. He washed the cup out, and put it back on the shelf.
"Music time!" Kal grinned and entered his bedroom, hooking up his guitar to the amplifier. He sat crosslegged on his bed with the guitar in his lap and a thick how-to beginner's book on the surface in front of him. Turning immediantly to the back of the book, he practiced for an hour, totally engrossed in the pleasure of the sounds of his instrument.
After he was finished, he returned the guitar to its original place against the wall.
Kalel then browsed through his closet, selecting a pair of tight jeans and an Under Oath tshirt. He stroked a tiny bit of eyeliner on and slipped into his high Converse. He didn't care to bother with accessories today, so he walked out of the lonely apartment to get some fresh air before the storm.
